I must admit I wasn't completely convinced when tipping KXIP to beat Pune last time out but they obviously had to win sometime given that they have such a powerful batting line up. The bowlers also did their job, restricting RSP to 152 and thanks to Murali Vijay, Manan Vohra and Glenn Maxwell, Kings are still alive.

It also showed how important the toss is likely to be in Mohali on Tuesday: Ten of the first 11 games have gone to the side who were chasing so how much of a bearing will that have on this result market?

The betting shows KKR as the clear favourites at best odds of 1.67 with Stan James and Coral while Kings XI Punjab are the outside bet at a top price of 2.30 with bet365. The Knight Riders have looked good so far and would be my tip but you may well want to see which way the coin lands.

We scored a winner with Murali Vijay in Kings XI's top batsman market and the opener can be backed against the Knight Riders at best odds of 4.33 with Skybet and Ladbrokes. Meanwhile, Manan Vohra was given the Man of the Match award for a faster 50 and he can be picked up at a best of 4.50 - also with Skybet and Ladbrokes.

Shaun Marsh may be due a profit at a top price of 4.50 with Skybet and Coral while skipper David Miller eases to best odds of 5.50 with Coral and Boylesports.

Kings fans would have been pleased to see Maxwell take his team home in what could have been a tight finish and the Aussie shortens slightly from 7.00 last time out to a best of 6.50 with Coral.

For the Knight Riders, it's all about Gautam Gambhir who holds the Orange Cap and has top scored in each of his side's three games so far. The skipper is priced to top score against KXIP at a best of 3.75 with Skybet and William Hill.

It's no surprise to see such a short price and you may think there's better value in Robin Uthappa at best odds of 4.0 with Skybet and Boylesports while Manish Pandey is further back at a best price of 6.00 with Boylesports.

Gambhir has really dominated but we could see an outsider drop in here so Andre Russell at best odds of 9.00 with Coral and Colin Munro at a top price of 7.00 with Coral and Skybet could be worth a look.

Russell could also make a difference with the ball and that's why he's my tip in the Man of the Match betting at best odds of 8.50 with bet365. We don't often look at this market and I'd only make a small stake but it can give some really good returns.

Alternatives are the favourite Gautam Gambhir at a best of 7.50 with bet365 or Kings XI's Glenn Maxwell who is a good value punt at a top price of 10.00 with bet365 again.

Coming back to the result and it's getting hard to ignore that stat where 10 IPL9 games have gone with the side batting second. Even unfancied Delhi chased down 191 on Sunday so 200+ seems to be a winning score.

Kings have their first win but they are still unconvincing and as I've said before, I'd really like to see Marsh and Miller batting in different positions. Over in the KKR camp, things are more settled, even though much has relied on Gambhir so far, so I'm taking the favourites this time.

My Tips:
  • Back Kolkata Knight Riders to win at 1.67 with Stan James.
  • Back Shaun Marsh to top score for Kings XI Punjab at 4.50 with Skybet.
  • Back Andre Russell to win the Man of the Match award at 8.50 with bet365.
