After an average first season, the Sunrisers have lacked any sort of sparkle in the IPL. They're the sort of middle of the road side that it is very difficult to get excited about and it feels like it may be the case again this year. Any team coming up against the Orange Army are going to be annoyed if they don't secure a win. They're not whipping boys on the same level of Delhi but they come pretty close.

With VVS Laxman and Muralitharan at work behind the scenes it almost feels as though their talents are going to be wasted. But let's not be too down on the David Warner led Hyderabad, they have a few redeeming features to their name. Yuvraj Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are entertaining and also Indian, which scores them points. They have the New Zealand duo of Williamson and Boult, that did so well at the World Cup.

It's not all misery for the Sunrisers Hyderabad but let's face it, it's going to take a miracle for them to reach the final.

Batsmen

You bought the wrong one! Of all the English players, their captain Eoin Morgan was probably the player to have contributed least to their success. He's in terrible form, has never played well in india and I can't see how he is going to be a force in this team. Shekhar Dhawan is clearly also a class act but 9.5 crore is a lot to have paid for him and there are better Indian batsmen out there.

Captain David Warner tells a similar story, with just 38 runs to his name from four innings in the tournament, the writing does not look pretty. The only respite in a handful of mediocre all rounders is Yuvraj Singh but he's nowhere near a good enough player to win matches on his own. It's asking too much of one man. It's a disappointing batting line up and one that is desperately out of form.

Bowlers

More bad news unfortunately for all of you Hyderabadis out there, where is the spin? We saw at the World Cup how important it is and I really wonder when people will take notice and start putting some proper price tags on the very best of them.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Trent Boult, Karn Sharma, Ashish Nehra. They're not really names that send shivers down your spine are they? The best chance they have is lulling Chris Gayle into a stupid shot in the same way he did during the World Cup final against Joe Root.

It is, at best, a mediocre bowling line up and they are going to have their work cut out because the guys they have posting the scores on board for them aren't any better.

Summary

Arguably the worst team in the IPLthis season. It's going to be a long, long season for the Sunrisers Hyderabad and I wouldn't be surprised if they finished last. at top price 7 with some bookmakers, it's a price I would be very happy to take.
