We've done it. We have just about managed to survive a whole summer without one Twenty20 tournament. With the IPL still months and months away, what we need is a good chunk of crash-bang-wallop T20 cricket. So luckily, around come the Champions League Twenty20, which starts on Saturday. Hosted in India, this tournament has all the glorious razmatazz of the IPL, but with non-Indian teams added to spice the competition up. The top 4 IPL teams from last season, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are in the hat this time around, all with dreams of winning the final in Bangalore, just over three weeks from now.
Mumbai must first come through the Qualifying Group, where they face Northern Districts, Southern Express and the Lahore Lions. Their first fixture is a cracker against Lahore, in what promises to be a typically feisty India vs Pakistan clash.
The four IPL teams are the favourites, and all eyes will be on Kings XI Punjab to see if they can get over the line this time. For most of the last IPL, they were seen as the best team, but time and again KKR proved to be too much for them. Chennai Super Kings are always a strong outfit, and this year will be no different.
South African side Cape Cobras are top of the betting without the IPL sides with bet365 offering 10/1 on them winning the tournament, while subcontinental sides Southern Express and Lahore Lions will have their backers. It promises to be three weeks of non-stop excitement.
We will be providing in-play betting on every match!
