As we all know, the Indian T20 League is on in full swing and people across the country and worldwide are stuck to their television sets every evening. We're watching some brilliant cricketing action every day and some nail-biting finishes as well. What happens to all your hardcore cricket fans after the 2017 season is over?
You need not worry, as there is another big tournament coming up just 10 days after the end of this Indian domestic season; an international tournament that too. The ICC CHAMPIONS TROPHY is back, the last edition of this tournament being played four years back in 2013, where India beat England in the finals by 5 runs!
The 2013 ICC Champions Trophy was hosted in England and Wales and the 2017 tournament is also being hosted in England and Wales. Earlier today, Cricket Australia announced their squad for this tournament, which begins on 1st June 2017, and it will be played until 18th June.
There were a few deserving inclusions while there were also a few surprising exclusions from the Australian team that will travel to England. Chris Lynn is currently injured at the Indian T20 League but he has been included in the squad while all-rounder James Faulkner, who has been a vital part of the ODI squad over the years, has been excluded.
The recent performances of all-rounder Marcus Stoinis is probably the main reason why Faulkner has been dropped. James Pattinson got a call up to the squad once again as he has been doing well after his return from injury which meant that young Billy Stanlake didn't make the cut. The most surprising inclusion however, has been that of John Hastings.
With they bat, they decided to include youngster Travis Head, which meant the experienced players like Shaun Marsh and Usman Khawaja aren't part of the squad. It has been an interesting selection of 15-men so let's see how they go at the ICC Champions Trophy when we're ready to kick off!
