It was the first double header of IPL 2017. In Game 1, Pune were put in to bat and they lost quite a few early wickets until Ben Stokes came in and scored a fifty. They managed 163 in their 20 overs but Punjab were on top of their game, scoring at a brisk rate in the chase. Even though Tahir picked up 2 wickets, Punjab chased the target in 19 overs and won their opening game of the season.
New captain Glenn Maxwell won the Man of the Match award for his 40*. In the second game, Indian litter blaster Kedar Jadhav was the hero, winning the Man of the Match award at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
His inning of 69 allowed RCB to put up 157 and even though we expected this to be chased down with ease, the Bangalore bowlers were good on the day. Rishabh Pant played a brilliant knock of 57 for Delhi but was bowled off the first ball of the final over and Delhi ended up falling 15 runs shorts of the target. Today we are expecting another thrilling day of cricket!
Results: Punjab won by 6 wickets!
Bangalore won by 15 runs!
