Ooty Racecourse is possibly the most beautiful racecourse in India. It is by far the most remote and is set in the hills of Tamil Nadu. Located close to Coimbatose, just south of Bangalore this serene race course has captured the heart of many horse racing fanatic.
The Ooty Railway station is nearby and one can reach the racecourse by road. It is the sister of Madras racecourse and shares the same management under chairman Dr M.A.M. Ramaswamy.
The racing season here begins in April and features races such as The Nilgris 1,000 Guineas, The Nilgris 2,000 Guineas and the Nilgris Derby Stakes.
Despite being a small course, it is placed in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Unlike so many other racecourses in India, it is not located in the heart of a city and this makes for a completely different atmosphere, away from the glitz and the glamour Ooty racecourse is the home of the sports true fanatics.
